The OCC’s New CRA Rule: Will it Help or Hurt Community Banks?
Show Notes

On the next episode of Clark Hill’s Credit Eco to Go, we talk with Gary Kuter, SVP of Retail Banking and Chief Compliance Officer of Capital Bank in Madison Wisconsin about the OCC’s new regulations for the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The OCC decided to go it alone and did not wait for the FDIC or the Federal Reserve to issue their rules with respect to the CRA. As a community banker, Gary tells us that any change to the CRA, regardless of the regulator, will be difficult to in terms of performance measures and data analytics especially when smaller banks have limited resources. Finally, Gary gives us his thoughts on whether the revisions to the CRA will ultimately expand lending opportunities as intended.
